Improving outcomes: a strategy for cancer set out how UK health services can rise to the challenge of helping the NHS to deliver improved cancer outcomes that are amongst the best in the world.

Almost a year after Improving outcomes: a strategy for cancer was published; the annual report highlights the challenges of achieving the quality of cancer services and outcomes that the strategy set out to deliver. The annual report has highlighted the following priorities for the year ahead:

• Delivering improved cancer survival rates
• Improving the quality of life for cancer survivors
• Improving the patient experience

This year’s Cancer Care Congress will bring together practitioners, academics and health and public health leaders to discuss and debate the pertinent issues surrounding high quality cancer care service delivery.
